History
History Galveston was first home to the Akokisa and the Karankawa. The first Europeans landed there in 1528. The Spanish explore, Cabeza de Vaca, was shipwrecked on the island and lived among the Indians. In the 1600's French explorer , Robert Cavelier La Salle, claimed the area for king ST. Louise.
