 Beth Yeshurun Day school has been a leader in Jewish Day School education in Houston since 1949 and we are proud of our wonderful graduates who have gone on to become leaders in their communities. Over the years we have acquired knowledge about how children learn and we do an even better job now with each child who passes through our doors. We are a great place for children to develop their full potential in our classrooms, art studio, music room, science and computer labs and gymnasium.
Research teaches us that reading is the most critical skill children need for future academic and life success. Major resources are devoted to providing the necessary language arts foundation in the earliest years. Our teachers and resource faculty are now using Guided Reading to ensure this and we use many of the strategies recommended by Guided Reading to teach the reading and comprehension of Hebrew language, as well.
Much time and thought is also devoted to mathematics (Singapore Math) to provide each student with a clearer understanding of numbers and number sense.
We are a school of “twin nobilities”, committed to excellence in General and Judaic Studies. The school provides students with the knowledge, skills and values requisite for their full participation as American Jews living in a contemporary Western society. Our goal is to incorporate the best in Jewish education, tradition and community life and to embody the highest standard in secular education. In so doing, we hope to ensure that each child learns to think critically; to question, to compare, to hypothesize, to analyze and to problem solve.

The Beth Yeshurun Elementary School is accredited by Independent Schools Association of the Southwest. The Beth Yeshurun Preschool is enrolled in the self-study process working toward reaccreditation.
