Brenham, with its beautiful, rolling hill, is the heart of the bluebonnet region between mid-March and early May. The Texas Declaration of Independence was signed there in 1836. Brenham has some important museums and historical landmarks which include the George Bush Presidential Library and Museums, Brenham Heritage Museum, and the Antique Rose Emporium. Blinn College was founded in 1883, and was first called Mission Institute. It was later  renamed Blinn Memorial College and became  the first county-owned college in Texas.  Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site  is unique  and enjoyable  park where Texas declared independence  from Mexico and the place that served  as the capital of the Republic of Texas.  Brenham has a downtown "Main Street" District, Antique Antique Carousel, the Blue Bell Creamery, Brenham Maifest, is one of the oldest German festivals in Texas.
